Finals Weekend

George Muscroft repeated his feat of a year earlier when he again won the ‘double’. This comprised the Gent’s Scratch on Finals Day in addition to previously achieving the best qualifying score. Relatively new member, Tracy Batty, playing in her first Finals Day, had a tremendous weekend. She won three trophies amongst them being the Ladies’ Scratch. Simon Wilcock and Marie Parker won the Mixed and although Ian Campbell lost the Foursomes he enjoyed success in both the Victory Cup and the John Wood Putter. In a weekend where the weather was kind and the course in superb condition, a free halfway house facility and an all-day barbecue all contributed to make for another excellent Club event.

Junior Prize Day - Sunday 9th September

Junior Captain, Dan Clark-Coates, finished an excellent season by winning the main competition of the Junior Prize Day and, thus, becoming Junior Champion.  The Prize Day very well-attended both on the course and, following the golf, in the clubhouse. Many parents and well-wishers joined with the golfers to witness another excellent Club event as the trophies were presented to the various winners.

Weekly Message

The events over the next week or so include the Junior Prize Day this Sunday afternoon and, next week, several groups of visitors, the Rabbits' Captain's Prize, which will be played in conjunction with the September Stableford competition and the exchange with Wortley Golf Club on Sunday. On the Friday we also welcome the Alzheimer's Charity Golf Day which operates from a 12 noon shotgun start, so please arrange your golf accordingly. Please see the notice boards or the website or click here Weekly Fixtures List Week 37 wc 10th Sept.pdf for further tee reservation details.
Next weekend provides a couple of busy days. Following the Alzheimer's Day on the Friday we are holding a wedding reception on the Saturday. Guests are expected to arrive from about 2.00pm with the wedding breakfast aimed for about 3.00pm. The celebrations continue into the evening so it would be appreciated if members will show the usual courtesy extended to people attending such events in the past.
As a sign of how the year is progressing, the Christmas Snooker Knockout entry sheet is now on the board in the 19th. Places are limited, usual arrangements apply - please see the organiser, Phil Wade for any further details.
