The third hole favours the straight hitter as the left-hand side of the fairway is guarded by mature trees and any shots played from here are unlikely to advance far to make the green. The right-hand side of the fairway is initially protected by trees and bushes but then out of bounds awaits any loose shot from 150 yards all the way to the green. Bunkers to the front right and left also guard a deep green which slopes from front to back meaning there can be some quick putts. A par on this hole may well feel like a birdie!!

"Some days I love this hole, but it can be cruel. It is all about hitting two straight shots, but if I play it badly, I console myself with the view from the green and most of the way down the fairway. Wharfedale in all its glory and a rare view of the little known 16th century Banqueting Hall at Weston Hall can be seen across the valley."
