The eighth hole again requires an approach over water to the green. This hole requires an impressive drive from any of the tees if the green is to be reachable in two - but only for the longer hitters. For most it will take three shots with the last being from a flat terrace in front of the stream. Trees on either side protect the entrance to the green - as well as the stream in front - so a central position on the fairway is required to ensure you have the best chance to make the green through a narrow approach. The green is also protected by bunkers on either side but has relatively gentle contours.

Brian Wilkinson Men's Capt 2017 and Captain of Harrogate & District Society of Golf Captains 2023:

"This is a challenging drive off the white tees to be in position for your second or third shot to a tight but attractive looking green. Care must be taken due to the stream crossing just in front of the green and there are also bunkers either side ready to catch the errant approach shot."
