The view from the elevated tee on this 6th hole shows you that a straight drive is going to pay dividends. The hole has a right-to-left dogleg and two bunkers narrow the target area at the corner. A shot short of the bunkers will likely result in a lay-up in front of the stream that runs across the whole fairway. The long green is guarded by bunkers on both sides and looks relatively flat but beware - there are subtle contours that can have a dramatic effect on your putts, so favour the left-hand side to allow yourself an uphill putt.

Winifred Varley, Club President 2019-2021 & President Yorks Ladies County Golf Assoc 2022 and 2023:

"Standing on the 6th tee, which of all of the tees is elevated, you have a lovely view of the start of the hole. There are trees lining both sides of the fairway as far as the stream which is out of view round a dogleg left. The newly added fairway bunkers draw your attention first but make for a nice feature. The mound on the right, with its new path, is also a feature but one to be wary of. I like it best when it has just been cut around the top and the sides are left a little longer! However it is not somewhere you want to play from if you can avoid it. As you walk forward past the bunkers, the stream comes into sight. Large trees grow near the stream but leave an entrance to a good sized green which is protected by bunkers therefore accuracy is vital for a good score."
