A tough but attractive par 3, this that requires accuracy but great views can be seen from both tee box and green. The fifth hole has no less than 3 tee boxes depending on the time of year and the course condition. Playing uphill to a flat green surrounded by beautiful rhododendrons, this hole can be more than 200 yards or as little as 100. Accuracy is at a premium and a ball missing to the left or right can result in a big score. There is a flat area of the approach that can be used to chase the ball onto the green if flying it the entire distance is not an option. A steep bank at the back of the green affords a degree of protection for the longer hitter.

Fran Sutton - Member:

"The 5th Hole is a tricky, long, uphill par 3, all slopes and angles. Many of us have to play it as a par 4. The green is the highest point of the course with a lovely Augusta-esque backdrop of rhododendrons. On reaching the green you are afforded a panoramic view over the course and of the beautiful Wharfe Valley. Accuracy into the green is crucial as trouble lurks on all sides. A lovely hole that can reward or punish equally."
